2.5" in past 72 hours. Just what the doctor ordered. Grooming on Thursday afternoon. Should set up a great finale to the NFL ski weekend season. Still 8-12" base. Trails will continue to be groomed as feasible for the remainder of snow season. You can book a ski-in and out cabin in March.

There was a window of about two hours of very good skiing. Temps went below freezing at night. We skied from about 9- 11. There was a glaze on the track to start and this made for amazing glide. On the summer home road by the bridges we double poled and glided for about a quarter mile! Still 12" on the ground. The Eastern bridge only had 3-4" of snow on it but otherwise the everything was fully covered.

Skied 12K from National Forest Lodge to Flathorn Lake and back. A little pine needle litter. Blue wax. Great kick and glide. Some of the most beautiful classic trails in the state!

The Flathorn and Gegoka trails were sublime this weekend. They were groomed exquisitely, single-track mostly, for classic only, with great care and creativity. The area of Superior National Forest has received over a foot of clean white snow on top of a solid base this past week creating superb conditions throughout the 30K system. The trails wend through old growth pine, birch stands, bogs and lakeshore. All is quiet and peaceful and clean and you feel like you have the forest trails to yourself. With the deep snow and balmy temps the experience is amazing and thankfully, though warm, it is not as warm as southern portions of the state. Snow should remain protected by woods and cooler temps.

The trails were excellent. The tracks were deep and it had a good base. I liked skiing over the bridges. I also saw some animal tracks and I think an otter walked across the ice.

Superb conditions today with new grooming over fresh snow. The snow had a chance to settle and firm up after the temps dropped last night. Classic tracks were firm and no melting has occurred with the fresh snow. I skied the entire system and it was all in really good shape.

13" of snow in 3 days! Trails scheduled for grooming Friday morning. Reserve your weekend soon. In my opinion, you'll find no better classic skiing in the upper midwest this weekend.
