Skied Deeryard Lake late morning. Went clockwise starting away from the lake. Lots of pine debris the first half mile. After that it was fast, icy with conditions mostly fair.

The best ski ever around Deer Yard loop (clockwise) - pristine grooming and lovely snow even along the usually problematic Deer Yard Lake shore line - Thank you groomers!

Deeryard area has not been packed or set since the big snowfall two days ago. Bushwhacked counter-clockwise, skipping the fire tower spur and the "short loop." Powder was mid-calf deep. From "G" to parking area, a single track had been made by other skiers. Exhausting! Excellent snow, though! Should be perfect once groomed.

Skied the upper loop and up to the fire tower {clockwise on Saturday and counter clockwise on Sunday). Good snow with deep, slightly glazed tracks...great glide! 35F on Saturday and 26F on Sunday. Although the Northeast can use some fresh snow, ski conditions are pretty darn good! Much better than we anticipated. Get out there and have fun!

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skied from cascade to the solbakken trails, looped the hall loop and back. Cascade connected had not been groomed in since the last snow, hall loop had. Generally good coverage, but plenty of thin spots to navigate. The snow currently falling and a fresh groom will likely solve most of the coverage issues. In terms of scenery, these trails are fantastic. Awesome to be skiing through the spruce and cedar stands.

Skied the Deeryard loop including Fire Tower and Short Loop. Tall raspberry stems that weren't mowed this fall continue to be a hindrance on the lakeside of the loop and are really bad on the Short loop. The tracks are on the shallow side, but are quite functional with a dusty of new snow this afternoon. Fire tower was in the best condition as was rest of the loop away from the lake. The Short loop was bumpy and full of tall stubble that made the downhills a bit scary. I would avoid it unless you are skilled downhiller and can hang in the tracks to go over and thru the stubble. Snowplowing would not work! Was an exciting run!

Classic skied the Deeryard Loop for the first time this winter. Snow was nice and fresh grooming after yesterday's 3 inches of snow was nice. Trails were only single tracked (usually 2 tracks) and neither the fire tower or the short loop had been groomed since the new snow but both were skier tracked. Tracks on the loop were well formed up to the junction with the pioneer loop, but quite shallow on the 2.3k east side of the loop. The west side (next to the lake) has lots of tall brush and stubble growing thru trail and tracks which looks like it will be a problem until there is much more snow or they are trimmed back snow level. There are 2 water berms on the west side that should be skied around as the gully created is about a foot deep and 18 inches wide. Glide was good in spite of the cold and the snow laden trees are beautiful as was the sunset from the fire tower hilltop.
