Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The window for great skating was closing when I started at 11:45. One of the skiers coming off the trail at that time said it was phenomenal and there was nobody there. Grooming and marking or closing of hazardous sections was great. Kudos to the crew. Sun had just come out and was softening exposed sections and slowing things accordingly. Nevertheless, I was able to ski all downhills safely with no sudden deaccelerations and despite walking many hills was able to skate Hill, Timber and Prairie at a good-for-me 5.8 mph pace.

Great skating around the outer loop this morning. Very smooth grooming, only two icy spots easily seen and to get around. About 11 cars in the parking lot.

Great skate skiing on all outer loops(8k). Should be good a few more days. Sad to see an empty parking lot.

I think Baker is grooming their trails hourly. I've had corduroy at all times of the day recently. No place in town is grooming better than these folk right now. (Note: Photo from yesterday when it was sunny).

Excellent conditions this morning at Baker. Kudos to the groomers for the great job. I was classic skiing and tracks were solid throughout and the skate deck was perfect too.

We had a great ski at Baker this afternoon. The classic tracks and the skate deck were in very good condition except for some debris in the tracks from yesterday's wind. Baker is really one of the more scenic ski areas in the metro. The trails also have a nice flow to them throughout the park.

I skied most of the trails and the conditions were fantastic! They had groomed in the morning and the classic tracks were very nice.

Baker was rather soft but good. I skated but the classic was probably better. They had a Piston Bully there which was good because a snowmobile got stuck on the wall. That might have prevented them from making as many passes as they would have liked.

Trails had been snowmobile groomed this morning after the new snow and were in good condition. Just a little on the soft side in places, and the trail wasn't quite full width. There are some sticks here and there, but they are easy enough to avoid. While I was out, there was a PistenBully groomer that had just come in from the direction of the multi use trail, so they may be regrooming with bigger equipment this afternoon.

Skied Island Trail and back on half of the Hill Trail and Fairway Trail starting around noon. Everything looked pristine! Skate deck was very soft, and heard from another classic skier out there that the tracks were also soft.
