A nice set of trails with rolling hills. The first lighted trail system in the metro, it still attracts a lot of after-work skiers.

I skied a half loop this morning but conditions were not too good. It was rather icy, there are multiple bare patches to hop over, and lots of walking foot holes. I would not recommend skiing unless you are are up for an adventure ski.

TRP website showed fresh grooming today so I stopped by before lunch and was glad I did. Snow was well compacted from grooming but getting softer as the temp went above 45F. I skied all the trails without much problem but there's about a 100 ft section of the Meadow trail near the road that requires some fancy footwork to stay on snow. There's a couple other much smaller areas to watch out for but nothing you can't prepare for in advance, the worst being the first downhill from the visitor center and the last Challenge hill downhill. Snow depth overall is amazing for April 20 considering there was no snowmaking base. Back in the woods on the Skyline trail it looked like mid January.

Freshly groomed and fast! A few patches have nearly burned out, but I skied the entire skate loop and it was wonderful. It will slow down soon, and melt out close after that so get out there this morning if you can!

Some members of the Medicine Lake Run Group went for a ski on the groomed trails after our Wednesday night run on the plowed trails in French Park. (A good double work-out) Icy conditions earlier in the day had softened. Skiing was faster and easier than it had been Tuesday night when I was sinking into deep and sticky snow. Some areas were close to breaking through.

Soft conditions. April 18th and skis still not bottoming out. Lots of red wing black birds singing to cheer us on. Owls out hooting when we left. So fun!

Went out at 9:30 today after a great morning ski yesterday and found the trails full of frozen ski track ruts and not groomed at all. I struggled all the way out to Skyline to make sure grooming wasn't in progress since when I spoke with the groomer yesterday he said they were going to groom today. After running off the trail on the first downhill starting out because there was no smooth or soft snow to be found I decided to walk the downhill on my way back. The first time I've ever feared for my safety when I skied down a groomed xc ski run. Dangerous, not marked closed on TRP website but I feel it should be.

Skied the ridge line and related segments from the main building this morning. Surreal experience to have in Minneapolis in mid-April. Groomer was out. One dirty patch SE of the big road intersection (Rockford and NW Bvld) otherwise flawlessly snowy trail. Deck was pretty soft but changing rapidly as snow packs down and melts. No pass needed. Beautiful tomorrow, probably, and Wednesday assuming the new snow helps cover that one bump (which, by the way, they should flatten so the groomer doesn't rip through the base in that spot?!). Pretty awesome conditions, all in all. Eat your heart out, Anchorage.

Trails were lumpy snowmobile tracks, as I got out ahead of the groomer about 6:30 am. I was about to give up, then saw the groomer had been out so I followed the freshly groomed trail for a while. Will be nice after more grooming, but difficult skiing now.

Packed and groomed, no classic tracks. The groomer was working while I was there at 9am. The trail is not as wide as normal but plenty wide for skating. Conditions were somewhat bumpy in places that hadn't been regroomed, but very nice after the fresh grooming. Overall, wonderful conditions!

French's snowmobile grooming was not adequate for the snowapocalypse. Trail was very lumpy and uneven to the point of being unskiable. I tried skating for 20 min and had to quit. Classic was no better as there is no track. I'd stay away from French until they are able to groom again.
