Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

2016-2017 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
We skied the Sugarbush trail. This is easy terrain and was generally nicely tracked with an occasional washout on the curves. In the more heavily wooded coniferous sections there was some duff, but not much. Used B skis but could have used A's... no rocks at all. Did not try the skate trails. Groomer appeared to be going out again as we left at sundown.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Today we groomed and tracked: Anchor, Jolly Long, Seagull, Rollercoaster, and Telford. We also tracked Sugarbush and Seagull Connector. With the new snow the trails are starting to smooth out nicely.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The groomers got out and groomed and tracked: Anchor, Seagull, Rollercoaster. They also groomed but didn't track Telford, and tracked Sugarbush Classic. The rest of the trails were rolled but not groomed. In general, the groomed trails ski very well. There are a few thin spots, but they are very easy to avoid.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Today Anchor, Seagull, Roller Coaster, and Telford were groomed and tracked. There was a thin spot going into Telford, one going across the GS run near the start of Anchor, and one by the new reroute on Rollercoaster. Otherwise it looked to come out pretty good. I wouldn't use your best skis, but most of the thin spots are easy to avoid.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
I skied the trails this morning, and was surprised by the coverage. I didn't hit anything skiing around the core trails. After skiing, Steve and I re-rolled most of the core trails, and then I went out later and packed the skate trails of: Anchor, Seagull, Rollercoaster and Telford with the ginzu. The conditions aren't anything to write home about, but the people I saw out an the trail were glad to be out on skis. Hopefully the snow they are forecasting tomorrow, will make it here.
