New Reports Report Requests

Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
I skied classic on Jolly at 3pm when it was about 50 degrees. It was fantastic! Still tons of snow although there is a lot of debris melting out. There were no tracks to speak of, but the Zero skis kicked up everything! What a great day. The skate deck actually looked great too. It melted down pretty flat and was not rutted. Dave skated Seagull in the morning and reported that it was really nice too.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Between Steve, Blaise, Dennis and myself, we got Anchor, Seagull, Rollercoaster, Sugarbush Dog Trail, Summit Trail, Sugarbush Classic, and Oppedahl's groomed and tracked. In a few places it was still soft underneath, so the gators left some ruts. Otherwise it looks pretty good, I'm going to try it after some lunch.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We skied the 2nd annual Sap Run skijoring race. Cold and clear weather. The race course took us on the Sugar Bush Daog Trail and parts of Birch Hill and Jolly Long. Trails were in good shape. Barely any debris on the trails. Classic tracks were solid and the site deck felt good. Other trails we passed at intersections looked good, such as Seagull and the Tellford Loop. It's a good trail system. Well worth the trip.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With another 10 inches plus of new snow, between Steve, Dennis and I we got the following trails groomed and tracked: Anchor, Seagull, Rollercoaster, Telford, Sugarbush Dog Trail, Summit Trail, and Sugarbush Classic. Seagull Connector and Jolly Long have been flat dragged.
I'm sure things are still a bit soft, and the gator was leaving some tracks, so the skate decks aren't totally flat. It will take a couple of more groomings for things to firm up.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With best estimate at 12-15 inches of snow, Steve, Bill and I got some grooming done, but it is really slow going. All that is fully groomed is Anchor, Rollercoaster Telford, and Sugarbush Classic. Seagull Connector and Seagull are flat dragged. The rest of the classic trails have been track packed with the snowmobile.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Conditions are excellent for classical skiing. Trails are perhaps a bit soft as we have had quite a bit of snow, but i was the first skier on the trails that I skied today so they will only get better. There is very little debris and plenty of powder to navigate the hills easily. The groomers have done an excellent job. Very enjoyable day on the trails!
