Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I groomed and reset tracks at Hiram this morning. There was a lot of new snow to work with after last night. The track turned out well but it and the deck will be soft until it has a chance to set up. The wind was picking up and knocking down more snow along with some leaves onto the trail. Get out and enjoy all the fresh new snow. The parking lot has not been plowed since the last two snows so it is tough getting in and out without all wheel drive.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Made one quick trip around the trail system this morning to reset track after the snow Thursday night. Track is fairly deep and clean even under the pines. The track will be soft since it was just set this morning but it should be good skiing today. I plan to groom again Sunday morning. Get out and enjoy some fun skiing this weekend.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trail was groomed and new track set this afternoon. Conditions are good over all but track is still shallow under the thick pines. Some sections of the track are a little ragged due to the track setter icing up at times. Should be good skiing tomorrow, get out if you can.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied late afternoon at Hiram today after a little new snow last night. Very windy today with snow drifting into the track. Forest litter not to bad after all the wind we have had, mostly just some oak leaves. Track is holding up ok, just getting shallow with the little snows we have been getting. Still worth getting out there and skiing.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied Hiram both yesterday afternoon and this afternoon. There was around a 1/4 inch of new snow in the track today. The track is holding up fairly well but as reported earlier it is shallow in many areas with the lack of loose snow to work with during the last grooming. Still a good ski and will be fine for the weekend.

Trail conditions at Hiram are good over all. The trail is pretty clean other than some scattered leaves so you can use your good skis. The track is set to full depth in most areas but there are some areas where there was not enough loose snow on top of the hard base so the track gets a little shallow in places. Was a beautiful day for skiing with lots of sunshine and fresh white snow. Get out and enjoy some good skiing before the next melt comes along.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We picked up another couple inches of snow today so I was finally able to groom Hiram again. There are still some areas where the forest litter mixed in the snow is sticking thru so that is why I gave the B ski rating but over all the snow is fairly clean. I think the track turned out fairly well but I finished the track setting pass after dark so it was difficult to see how it was looking. Get out and ski while the snow conditions are still good, don't let the cold weather stop you.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
A dusting of snow last evening helped to cover up more of the leaves, stick, needles and bits of pine cones that are in the track. There is still enough depth to the track to stay locked in even on the down hill runs. It was a beautiful calm sunny day for skiing at Hiram today. Over all it is still worth going out for a ski there. Remember it is groomed for classic skiing only, no skating. The base is so thin we really need some new snow to be able to groom again and do a good job.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Track is getting shallow and pretty dirty in some areas. There was a little dusting of fresh snow that covered up most of the ice so hard wax would probably work. I still had klister on from last weekends icy conditions which was working fine today. The worst areas for tack being dirty was any place under the pines. The first loop had been walked on so the sides are some what chewed up. Overall it is still worth getting out for a ski at Hiram. It has not been groomed since January 15 but we really need more snow before trying to groom again or we might make it worse with the base so thin in most areas.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied Hiram late this morning while it was still below freezing. The track was very icy and fast so glide was no problem but the hard kick waxes were not working to well. The track has gotten shallow with the warm temps this week and more leaves & sticks have fallen in the track. There are no bare spots yet but the base is thin so we need it to cool down and snow more before it can be groomed again. It is still a fun ski but conditions are far from ideal. I plan on going back tomorrow but I will be using klister wax in order to get better grip.
