Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
The 500 meter man made loop was really good this morning. I also skied up the downhill a few times and it had good snow. Good coverage and no ice on the entire loop and downhill. A track was set but it looked really shallow is some areas. Thank you to the Standing Rocks employees for making a really nice loop.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Just skied the artificial snow around the ski hill. Hey, it's only 400-500 meters, but it is white and clean and it is snow. The Parks staff are doing a great job of grooming it and keeping it skiable.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
With two days of rain and above freezing temperatures the trails have turned to mashed potatoes. There is no set base. The 2 to 3 inches of snow covering the trails are mush from the top all the way to the ground. The snow covering the trails is disappearing fast.

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good conditions! Skate deck was firm and flat, only rare soft spots, very little leaf and twig debris, only occasional dirty snow which is easily avoidable. I used good skis and there was no damage. Overall I would rate the skate deck good to very good, the groomers have done an excellent job here. I was on classic skis but ended up skiing 80% of the time on the skate deck because of the oak leaves that are sitting in the tracks, in most places they occur only 8 to 15 feet apart. Otherwise the tracks are deep and firm. Here again the groomers did a great job of leaving the 3 feet between the tracks and skate deck fairly soft which has really deterred skaters from skating over and damaging the tracks. So classic I would rate fair to good. Skin skis or fishscales might be a better bet.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
The trails range from good to fair. I did not ski red pine but did everything else. Many areas are very thin with dirt mixed in. I used my B skis but you do have to be careful. The worst area was on the northwest end where the gravel pit is. You may want to avoid that section by cutting into the inner loops.

Trails were good, a bit soft as your hill climbing. Overall good conditions. Stayed on the red loop for the most part, seemed to be the best conditions overall.

Skied the outer loop, did not do Red Pine Run. Some dirty snow by the Wimme pit area but overall the track was great. Did the inner loops and they were great. Thanks to the grooming team.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The trails have been groomed and track set on all the trails with the Piston Bully. The is some thinner spots on a few uphill climbs otherwise good skis would be recommended. The trails are still soft and some drifting is occuring on the Northside of the park.

Afternoon

[ B skis ]
The trails have been packed and there is a good but fairly thin covering on the trail. In the areas with pines, there's some debris mixed in the snow. We have had about 4 inches of snow and the county has done a good job with what they have to work with. I did not ski red pine or the two inner loops on the west end. No classic track set.
