Rains on Sunday night into Monday combined with freezing night temps left a thick layer of ice throughout all of Greenbush which was followed by an inch of heavy snow. The flat area around the shelter, all ski trails and the inside bike/hike loops have solid ice topped with an inch of snow. No grooming (not enough snow most likely). I opted to run the inside bike/hike loops as skiing didn't look to be an option.

Skied inner parts of purple, green, and red trails from the upper lot this morning. Trails had 3-4" of fluffy snow and they have not been rolled. While any morning on skis in the Northern Kettles is delightful, there is no density to the snow and the rocks will come up and grab you on the downhills. If you ski Greenbush, I would use rock skis and caution.

They did not groom the 4 inches of snow they received, most likely, because there was no base to speak of, just frozen ground. I skied the brown loop. It was ok for rock skis, would have done another lap or two, but it was a little hard on my "B skis.".

Before the snow, the trails had a light dusting of snow that immediately disappeared under the skis. Tried the black but truly not skiable. However, I wanted to warn anyone heading over there today or tomorrow, the area near the shelter is covered in black ice. It is under the fluffy snow, and extremely dangerous. I went down very hard, and so did two others. It was not pretty. You can't see it, and it's unexpected under an area that is usually gravel and grass. Please use extreme caution near the shelter, it starts just inside the fence from the parking area. Hopefully the trails are going to set up for at least a few weeks of good skiing now!

One very thin spot at top back-end of purple. Other than that, really nice conditions. Skied just about everything between today and yesterday.
