Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
I skated purple and green trails about 10 AM (17 degrees using violet wax), and "icy" isn't quite the right word for the skate deck. It could probably be better described as a little hard and slippery. There was no obvious ice on the downhills, but I found it hard to get an edge even on the flats when I pushed off skating. I didn't see much debris in the pines, and you could easily ski over what was there without catching a ski. The classic track looked decent but also a bit worn and hard. My guess would be there has been no grooming since Wednesday.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Classic trail very good. Downhill a little icy and hard to maneuver.
Went classic skiing Thursday about 2 PM. Classic trail was in very good condition. Downhill was a little harder to control because the skating area was hard packed and hard to control skis on downhill. Would love it if it was groomed.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good conditions but classic trails are a bit worn.
Perfect conditions at 2pm Thursday - 32 degrees and sunny. Skied just one purple loop. Lots of debris, leaves, and twigs are showing up in the woods. The classic trail is getting worn out in a few spots - not sure grooming can help this. Skate trail looked great. Need snow!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good for skating after new fallen snow was skied-in.
Skied Purples and Greens 9:30AM to 12:30PM Temp fell from 35 to 30F Freezing drizzle changed to snow at start. Hard for striders to hit wax. Skating was OK slow on "packy" snow to begin but over time became great as trails were skied in and temp dropped. Greenbush has best snow pack in SE WI. = Skated on race skis. Not so many skiers on Green so it never got skied in.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: I skated Purple to Green to Purple, and the trails had obviously been groomed earlier in the day after last night's light snow. The new snow did made the skate track just a bit soft and slow. The classic tracks looked good.
It was a very nice day to ski and lovely in the Greenbush woods with all the new snow.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good with fresh but sticky snow.
Fresh snow made for a beautiful ski this morning. Trees were frosted with snow. Trails were groomed perfectly as usual. Only negative was the snow was sticky at 33 degrees.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good. I skated the Purple loop this morning, and it appeared to have been groomed after yesterday's races.
The skate deck was hard and just slightly icy, which only made the skiing faster, not more difficult. There was just a little debris in the pines, but it didn't interfere with skiing. The classic tracks looked good. The faster deck allowed me to skate the 5 miles about 15 minutes faster than usual.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Greenbush has by far the best conditions in SE WI with good depth and grooming. The skating was very good especially on the climbs and there was no icy conditions on the downhill. The high school teams had a classic race today and the classic tracks were very good with no bare spots and good depth.
I think its much better than the Nordic, McMiller, and Lapham where the snow base is thin and more snow is needed.

Grooming Scheduling
[ B skis ]
Conditions: A second set of classic tracks were added to the race courses that are being used for Saturday morning's high school and middle school classic ski meet. Classic conditions improved with the new tracks. Swix Blue Extra kick wax worked great! The trails will be re-groomed on Friday night in preparation for the meet.
Saturday's Greenbush Challenge Middle School/High School Meet will begin at 10:00 am and run until approx. 12:30 pm. The Brown Trail will be utilized for the meet from 10-11:30, and portions of the Purple, Green and Red Trails being used from 11:30-12:30.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good skate conditions. Hard deck good snow cover.
Skate conditions are good at Greenbush. Skied brown and repeats on green. Deck was hard and crusty and somewhat icy in some areas. Edging was trickier than normal, but ok and safe. Could use a combing. Conditions will be even better as the weather warms up and things loosen up. Conditions are thinning in the pines with some debris. Striding lanes are fair and have debris in some areas. Could use more snow.
