2016-2017 season

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Trails weren't groomed, but quite a few people had classic skied, so there were tracks. Skate skiing will not work well. Use caution, since quite a few branches are on the trails. There was a tree down on the brown trail and on the purple trail between the parking lot and the bathrooms at the top of the hill. Also, a tree was down at the beginning of the red trail. Snowshoeing on the snowshoe trail was decent. At the beginning of that same trail there is a sign that there are no bicycles allowed at this time.

Observation
I stopped at the Greenbush trailhead on my way back from Michigan to take a look and until we get more snow it looked like hiking or biking only. I saw ice sheets and grass sections mixed about 50/50. Things may change depending on the next storm but currently not worth the effort. Think snow.

Freestyle had a good base. At times classic trail was bare. Still pretty good conditions at this time. It is starting to get a little sticky, but well worth going out one more time. Enjoy!

Glorious Greenbush... what a great day of skiing, in March no less! Beautiful all around - fast classic track, firm skate deck - and sure ain't going to complain about a few very avoidable bare/icy patches. So thankful for this xc ski mecca and the folks who maintain so guys like me can trek from snowless Chicago and enjoy world class ski trails. This was likely my ski season finale, and def one of the best, most memorable ski days in a long time. Get your last hurrah before the spring warmup hits!

Another excellent ski at Greenbush. It looked to me like a groomer had gone out since I skied yesterday. Lots of people of all abilities were using the trails today. I skied a brown, pink, and purple today. A little ice in spots, but not bad. Not too much debris in the pines. A few burned out spots, but nothing major. The overcast sky this morning helped preserve the trail. Get out and enjoy!

Trails were groomed Thursday. We enjoyed a beautiful snow covered trail. Minimal ice, one bare spot but overall excellent. Didn't expect to ski again after the Birki and once again this little snow jewel surprised us. Firm and fast down the middle. I would try to ski This morning and still use good skis. Charlie, Dianne, Gary and I thank the local club for working so hard to give us a big smile on our face on our last day.

Skated greenbush today around noon. Good snow coverage for the most part. It hadn't been groomed since yesterday. It was hard packed in the middle due to alot of traffic and soft on the sides with lots of ruts many of which were deep. It appeared as though there was alot of skiing on it yesterday before it had a chance to firm up. It could have been pretty good today had they groomed again. I would rate conditions for skating today as fair.

Very nice late season skiing. The skate deck on the purple trail is solid. The deck on the green and red trails are soft on the right hand side. There are areas of ice but I was able to ski over or around them. Some bare spots showing but not a lot. The classic track looked good with some burned through areas. The sandhill cranes have returned to the marsh, another sign the season is almost over. Get out and enjoy!

Phenomenal, Lovely. Trails are in good shape except on 15 foot section of green by the lower powerline. A bit of icy snow in first pines. Otherwise incredible.

The groomer did a fantastic job in preparing both the skate and classic lanes, Thank You! My compliments and thanks to the Northern Kettle Moraine Nordic Club for all of your work and care given to the Greenbush System. Even though the lanes were a bit soft in spots all of the trails I was on today were in wonderful condition and skiing through the snow covered forest was terrific. Get out to Greenbush and have a great time.
