Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
This was rolled for skating this morning and at noon today the deck looked incredible and unused. There are no classics tracks but enough people have gone to make it around on classics.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Hiawatha is rolled! There are some avoidable asphalt and grass spots, but the coverage is generally good. We will not be able to set a classic track due to the thin base. I'll be skiing HIawatha later this afternoon with my B skis.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
The snowmobile that we use to groom Hiawatha is being used for the World Cup at Loppet, so there will not be any grooming until we get the snowmobile back. There were a handful of cars in the parking lot this morning and plenty of skier made classic tracks. Enjoy Hiawatha with some classic skis in the skier made classic tracks! It's beautiful out there today.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
I skied about six car-lengths this morning at Hiawatha Golf Course's parking lot, right in the gutters! There, along with some swales and along the fence line, were the only places with ski-able snow. I must say I've not gutter-skied before, but this year in the cities it'll have to do! No trails. No grooming. Rock skis. But why not? Lake Nokomis, across the road, had some snow on the ice, along with the Pond Hockey tournament, and a big warming house.

Observation
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
Still just a dusting of snow on the Hiawatha course. Our local MYSL ski clubs still had kids out doing dryland games this weekend. And the grooming crew has inspected the new snowmobile provided by local fundraising and the Loppet Foundation. As part of that, this weekend is the Second Annual Nordic Night Out, a fundraiser to support the Hiawatha Ski Club and grooming operation. Come on out!

We are thrilled to wake up to some white stuff on the ground, but alas it is not nearly enough to ski on. Please stay off of Hiawatha at this time. Rest assured that once we have enough snow to begin the grooming process, we will be out there getting things ready, and reporting updates!
