Skied North Advanced, Hilfiker and Canyon Curves. Tracks were well set and fast after overnight grooming. Deck was firm and even with fast, fresh corduroy. Great conditions considering current base depth. Get out there and hit it hard before the warm up!

There is full snow coverage on the trails. The overlooks and snowman trail I skied were groomed for skating and one or two sets of classic tracks. The classic track have seen a lot of traffic.

Today was a busy day at Pincushion as we hosted the Cook County Invitational Ski Races for over 180 high school and junior high skiers. Thanks to Mike Crook as Race Director and to the host of volunteers who helped out.
This evening following the race Bill re-groomed all of the trails that were used for the race - Stadium, East and West Overlook, Upper and Lower Snowman. Skate lanes all done and some stretches of classic tracks were re-set. Conditions are good.

Had a blast skiing at Pincushion today! Skied almost all trails -- looked like pretty much all were open. The groomers have done an excellent job and the tracks were great. There is some debris and dirt, as to be expected. The tracks were surprisingly fast for such a cold day. Thank you groomers for a great day of skiing!

After high winds yesterday, tracks are still holding up well, but look out for tree debris and a few icy spots. Skate deck was affected more by blowing snow. I skied Snowman and Pincushion blue loop.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Winter is here! We received about 4-5" of new snow up to now with more falling today. Stadium, East and West Overlook and Upper and Lower Snowman and Pincushion Loop are fully groomed and tracked. Work continues on advanced trails. Get out and enjoy the skiing before the polar vortex arrives over the weekend. Scheduling: A reminder that the Cook County Invitational Ski Race for over 200 high school and junior high skiers will take place at Pincushion from 11:00 to 2:30 on Tuesday Jan 16. Spectators are welcome.

Great time skiing the green loops today. A few icy patches and grass poking through but no bare spots or obvious rocks that I noticed. Snow is pretty good, if anything slightly sticky, and classic tracks are in great shape.

It was so much fun to ski in new snow with a few flakes filtering down. Only the easiest trails are groomed yet they offer nice skiing. You can make a 5 k loop out of it with enough variety to keep it interesting. I stated B skis just because the base is not deep but I used my good skis with no worries. Track was deep and solid.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
All the green trails at Pincushion are groomed for classic and skate skiing. They are Stadium, East and West Overlook, Upper and Lower Snowman. Conditions are very good considering having only 6" of snow in the woods. The packed base is 3". There are a few icy patches and few small dirt spots. Please ski with extreme caution.
