Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
1/2 inch of new snow on Thursday night. Re-groomed all skating lanes and set new track to the right of skating lanes (outer 6km loop). Also groomed the "cut-a-cross" segment in the middle of the outer loop. Other inside segments were not groomed but some have been skied on. Two spots on outer loop where there is no snow (10-20 foot sections). Where its good, its really good.

12 inches of snow in the past 3 days left the Larson Lake Trails in med season form. Only outer loop (6K) packed, groomed and track set. Enjoy Easter week end skiing. Good skis ok, skate lane soft today but hopefully harder tomorrow.

[ B skis ]
Classic skied at about 5:15 Friday afternoon. Used my B skis. It was quite nice! I took off my skis and walked on one short section of slope - too narrow a strip of snow for me to ski. But for the most part, I thought the grooming was great, A lot of areas had better snow coverage than when I had skied early January. Thanks for a great job of grooming and extending the spring skiing season!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I groomed all skating lanes to bust up the icy crust (2-3 passes overall) to try and make fine powder. I believe a achieved course powder. Only a spot or two where the base is lacking and ground is showing My final pass on the 6 km outer loop was to bust up the old track and set a new one. That worked pretty well too. The inside classic segments were not re-groomed and they will be fast when it is under 30 degrees. Ski it the next two mornings and let me know what you think.

I classic skied all trail segments today in 8 F. Very good conditions and hardly any icy spots (but that can change quickly). A foot of base (ski til May??). Skate deck looks great and not yet used by anyone. Twin City skiers...come up and ski the very good conditions on the several trails in the Brainerd Lakes Area.

7 inches of new snow. Packed all trails with heavy steel "sheep's foot" roller prior to grooming. Traveled on skate lanes 3 passes to firm base as much as possible. Tracks set on all trails. A deep base...ski until April maybe?

First time skiing here but it was on my list and the first stop of the day. Started a little after 10AM and had the trails to myself. Track was mainly a thin glaze that sometimes crunched under my skis as it apparently had melted a little from underneath and then refroze. Skins worked OK. Sun facing slopes were slowing and breaking down. I skied the outer loop but not the inner more advanced stuff as not all of that had been set and I didn't want to venture on it in these conditions without having skied them previously. The trails are very nice and rolling with twists and turns and a couple of good climbs and scenic. Saw two deer...one let me take it's picture. The skate deck had been skied when it was warm and there were some shallow ruts from that. Would like to ski it again under less changeable conditions.
