We received about 6 inches of snow and the whole trail was rolled yesterday. Today all but the Luge loop was dragged but not tracked due to not having enough snow. There are some bumpy areas and recommend B skis. Going down the Luge is closed.

Spring ski conditions continue. Skate deck was hard and fast this morning, uneven in areas with more snow on trail being lost. A few more bare patches but snow all across trail. Tracks also have bare spots developing. Best areas are inner loops, down center trail (Expressway) but stop before reach cabin and Muskelunge until you get to the Northern Rips. Luge loop is closed going down. Snowshoe trail still good.

Spring skiing conditions. Trail was firm this morning but should soften as the temps warm. Skate deck is becoming uneven in some areas. Tracks for classic skiing are still present but looked icy in the morning. There are a few scattered small bare areas. Luge Loop is closed for going down and some rutted areas at the bottom of the Expressway Loop. Inner loops are in the best shape. Need more snow.

Checked the trail at 10 a. m. to evaluate conditions. Base is still present but soft. Tracks still there and I classical skied a short distance from the parking lot to the gate and then on the snowshoe trail to the first junction. With temps getting close to or below freezing, the trail is still skiable and we will hold our annual Ski Junket tomorrow. Classical skiing is better than skate skiing and the inner loops are better than the outer loops. With temps not getting too cold at night it is different than spring skiing as the trail is not hard and fast in the morning. Will need more snow before being able to groom again.

Yesterday I classical skied with the Elcho School Silent Sports Club (grades 3-5) and the tracks on the trail were holding up very well. This morning I skate skied the outer loop. The cold weather last week helped set the trail better and with the warmer temps glide is much better. There are fewer soft spots and some moguls are forming in narrower stretches. I would rate the inner loops as very good. I would recommend going up the Luge Loop if it is skied at all at. It is not in the best shape and has not been tracked.

I skate skied the outer and intermediate loops and they are still in very good condition with a few soft spots on the Muskellunge Loop in narrow areas. The Luge Loop needs more snow before rough areas can be smoothed and is not dragged very wide, but my skis and poles did not hit ground anywhere on the trail. Where the trail is tracked, the tracks are holding up well.

Moccasin was in great shape for classic skiing. Other than having to side step two thin spots, coverage was excellent and I used good skis. The skate deck was somewhat soft and uneven on some trail segments. The intermediate trail between I (cabin) and D was very bumpy and not tracked and I would recommend avoiding that section of trail, but all other segments were a joy to stride.

The trail was rolled yesterday afternoon and groomed and tracked today except the Luge loop which was dragged with one pass and not tracked. We received about 5 inches of snow and there are a few soft spots. In general the trail is in good to very good skiing condition.

Over the past week we have received about 3 inches of snow and the trail has been rolled twice. More snow is needed before the trail can be dragged and tracks set. Rock skis are recommended and classical skiing will be better than skate skiing. The Luge loop is closed as there is not enough snow to fill in washed out areas. All low areas are frozen and the snowshoe trail is an option for snowshoeing or hiking.
