I did a little post-Birkie skiing, classical, about 10km this morning. Beautiful tracks but the snow is very soft and slow. Dog tracks in the skate lane are everywhere. I'll regroom skate lanes Tuesday morning, then probably wait for more snow before another groom.

Groomed all of the loops today. The 1" of new, moist snow was "just what the doctor ordered"; just enough to cover everything up and set nice tracks and corduroy. I met a couple of really happy skate skiers out there!

I groomed/scarified the skate lanes this morning to make the hard-packed trails safe and ski-able again. Classic tracks are solid but somewhat icy (blue klister conditions) and some stretches have oak leaves in the tracks. The next groom will be after we get some snow.

After skating the Rib Lake system on Saturday afternoon I tackled the hillier sections of the Forest Springs trail system. Although the skate lane was a bit crunchy after the warm-up on Thursday, nowhere was it scary-icy, not even on the steep down hills of Rollercoaster, Skidder or Jammer. Rollercoaster is so much fun because of one steep downhill followed quickly by an uphill you can get up entirely on momentum from the down, followed by yet another plunge that throws your heart into your throat, just like a rollercoaster. Scott groomed the skate lane again on Sunday morning, which was enticing as we went by on the classic tracks. Thanks Scott!

I groomed the skate lanes this morning; they were hard-packed and a bit beat up after a lot of use (by the local school 8th grade class) yesterday. Now I'll go out and ski. Everything is in excellent shape, including the tracks.

Fantastic conditions, perfect grooming. CFS never disappoints. Whether you're local or have to travel to get here, you'll always be rewarded.

With 3" new snow, I groomed everything today. It took 3 passes with the Ginzu instead of the usual 2. It looks beautiful but is very soft. Should be excellent tomorrow and Friday (if you can handle the cold temps).

After the 10" snowfall and multiple packing, then grooming passes (it was really soft today so I groomed again), the trails (skate and classic) are looking beautiful and have plenty of base to set good tracks everywhere. These trails connect to the Rib Lake trail system and Timms Hill; altogether maybe 70k with plenty of snow and lots of hills.
