Very good for both skate and striding. Groomed the 2" of new snow that fell like crazy this morning, filled some old ruts in the skate lane and reset the classic tracks. Should make for good skiing tomorrow til the next snow arrives. Nice to have the cool temps back!

Three Eagle survived the big thaw, but the skating deck is only fair to good. At both trail heads there were numerous footprints and ski ruts on the deck which made for difficult skating (good lesson in balance). The middle part of the trail was good skating, hardly any ski ruts or footprints. The deck is very hard, but has dusting of new snow which gave us plenty of edge control. The classical track was very good, medium depth, no ice, with dusting of snow in the track which made for great striding. Kudos to the groomers for laying down a great track. A couple inches of snow and another grooming should put the skating deck back to excellent condition.

Entering the trail from Hwy 45 south of Eagle River the crunchy corduroy in the skate lane was marred by deep footprints from hikers, dogs, and deep-set skating tracks that were laid down in soft snow and had re-frozen. Conditions improved significantly beyond the Cranberry Bog Boardwalk and it was a good ski. The classic track was well set and fast.

Fair to very good. Overall much improved by today's grooming. New tracks shaped up fairly well. Skate lane is good after the first mile. Each end of trail is still a bit rough due to excessive foot traffic during the warm spell. Thanks to Mike Boers for giving the trail today's needed attention.

My wife Jessica skied classical and I skated. Both parts of the trail were superb, no debris, firm deck and smooth. I have high hopes this trail will hold up in possible warm weather.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Renovated skate lane and combed out some crisp corduroy around dusk. Cool evening temps should help with setting up for a relatively firmer base on Sunday. Classic tracks were also reset. Enjoy the seasonal weather while it lasts!

Skating conditions were very soft and slow, quite difficult. Classic tracks were firm and very fast. It'll probably take a few more passes with the groomer to allow good skating.

Beautiful but still quite soft. Repacked and combed skate lane. Set fresh tracks. Expect some drifting and new dusting under trees as the winds kick up this afternoon.
