Trails are in very good condition. On the east side of the lake, they separate into dedicated skate and double-tracked lanes. The base is deep; even in the dense pine groves, you can easily sink your pole at least 2 feet into ungroomed snow.

For the first time in a while, the classic tracks are well set and firm providing for some great skiing. Sunshine and 24 degrees had a decent number of skiers enjoying the weather and talked with a few skate skiers who reported the trail to be in great shape. Great time to get out and ski!

24 degrees, freshly groomed 3 PM. Skate skied the Black Forest loop. Deck was set up enough for a good glide. Only complaint I have is that the classic track is too close to the middle so the skate lane is narrower and you can't get a full glide from side to side. There was easily 3 feet or more from the track to the side of the trail.
Did Classic on Highland Loop. It's a classic only trail. A very nice deeper set track than on Black Forest. Some places where it is double tracked there were segments on on set that groomer pulled up for a few hundred feet and back down again. It wasn't always on hills so that wasn't the reason. Swix Blue Extra worked great for kick!

Groomer trailer was in the parking lot when I arrived and by the time I was done the entire trail system had been groomed. With the fresh snow yesterday and the new grooming, there were a few soft spots in the tracks and a couple soft pole plants. Otherwise the trails are in great condition. Was able to have a trail chat with Oscar the Finn, who has roots on the Range, but now lives in Illinois. He was up visiting and enjoying skiing the trails again with all the snow and the sunshine. I did the 10k loop of Black Forest, Highland and Southern Lights and soaked up the wonderful sun. If you look close at the photos you can see by the sides of the trails how deep the snow is this year.

What a great winter, and the skiing just continues to be great. Full trail system is groomed with the Black Forest Loop seeing the most skiers as usual. Therefore the tracks are a little beat up in some areas of the trail with the traffic. The farther you ski out from the parking lots the better the trail conditions are. Not they are bad really anywhere. Great to see the number of skiers out today!
