What a difference a few more degrees of warmth makes! This morning's ski around 7 AM was completely different than yesterday's ski at the same time. Other than the uphill on the North Finger, the skate deck was anything but firm. Making turns down hills was tricky with all the sugary snow.

Excellent conditions for skate and classic on the "Wirth North - East" trails (accessible from the Historic Chalet parking lot).... fun getting in some end of season La Squadra and North Finger hill repeats! Thanks for all the great work this season, Loppet trails crew!!

I skied near the trailhead/bridge. It was great, albeit limited. I didn't realize it wasn't connected to La Quadra but I wasn't complaining. I'd estimate a 0.6 k trail end-to-end. Nice corduroy, and classic tracks looked nice. If the trails hold I'll try La Squadra; you'll have to park at the old Chalet for access.

A lovely morning ski. Fast and fun. Ridgeline cutoffs are open for a break from the finger-squadra rollercoaster. Solid / crusty patches at 7:30 am but getting skied in a bit by 8:30. Would have stayed all morning if not for work. Well worth the season ticket. Thank you groomers for going above and beyond!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
We were able get La Squadra, Ridgeline, and North Finger back into good shape. They can be accessed from the Chalet parking lot. Lower Stadium and the lesson trail south of Lower Stadium will also be open as learning areas, but do not connect to the other open ski trails at this time. All other trails have significant bare spots from the warm weather and remain closed.

I wasn't quite ready to be done with the season, so I went to checkout what survived the weekend. The groomers really did an exceptional job salvaging some snow to make about a half mile of good skiing. Unfortunately the trail doesn't quite make a loop, but it was definitely fast and fun. Much gratitude to the grooming crew.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The warm weekend did quite a bit of melting on the ski trails. Only Lower Stadium and the lesson trail south of Lower Stadium will be open on Monday. Green Meadow Trail is closed for the season. Trails north of the roundabout are more intact, but every section has bare spots that would need significant snow moving to patch. We will decide if this is possible on Monday.

Well, it was definitely an adventure ski this morning. Managed a lap and a half, but it was pretty grim. Lots of leaves and debris, and lots of dirt to keep things really slow. There are a few nice parts in the shade and no actual open ground on the 4K loop, but it's not what I would call fun. Has been a strange season for sure. Thanks to the Wirth groomers for making the best of things for us!

It was pretty good at 8:30am. Wasn't icy or slippery. There were some ruts on downhills, and some almost bare spots with low snow depth. As expected, wooded areas were better. Nothing to complain about!

The oak trees have decided to release their persistent leaves on the trail, where they drift into the tracks. Leaves on top of icy base is a bad combination, so I ended up striding mostly on the deck, which was in better condition. Nice to have the whole loop still open. The groomers have smoothed out the lumps from a couple of days ago.
