The Gitchi Gummi Sports Association held a Dryland
Ski Clinic in Elk River on October 14, 2000. The clinic was
mainly targeted for high school skiers and coaches. Former
Olympic medalist and Russian XC Ski coach, Nikolai Anikin
lead the clinic. He was assisted by other Gitchi Gummi elite
skiers, including Sara Zimmer.
If you haven't attended a Nikolai Anikin lead clinic yet,
you're really missing out on something. Nikolai presents
an excellent program, combining dryland drills, on skis
(or rollerskis) repetitions, with immediate (and nearly
constant) individual feedback. In addition, he makes use
of video analysis to give you a direct look at what you
are doing wrong (and right!) with specific recommendations/drills
to help improve your skills. Nikolai's easy and direct style
works well and frequently provides humorous exchanges.
Nikolai will be back down in the Cities for one more clinic
this fall, on the weekend of October 28-29th. The two day
clinic will again make strong use of rollerskiing drills
and will specifically target skating technique. Sign
