Rainbow Resort is located in northwestern Minnesota on the northern boundary of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge and just 1/2 hour from Itasca State Park.

Since 2000, Rainbow has added several new cabins as well as remodeling many of the existing ones. The two newest cabins, 8A and 8B, include all the amenities of the other cabins and are wheelchair-accessible, including a bathroom with a roll-in shower stall. Several cabins can accommodate large groups such as family reunions, and all cabins provide beautiful lake views from large picture windows and from their large lake-facing decks along the fronts of the cabins. The lodge has also been recently remodeled, including the lodge cabin on the lower level, and the kitchen area of the upper level.

Rainbow Resort offers more than 20K of private skiing trails for their resort guests. Sections of the ski trails have been designed by world-class athletes John Albrecht and Bonnie Weiskopf. Trails are groomed for both skating and classic technique, and range from easy to quite challenging. These smooth trails also provide an excellent place to hike and enjoy nature during the summer and fall months. Rental equipment, including ski packages, snowshoes, ice skates, and even ice fishing houses is available for rent. A waxing room is also available in the lower level of the recreation center.
