Middle School Nordic Coaching Position (grades 6-8) in District 112 (Chanhassen and Chaska)

District 112 (Chanhassen-Chaska) is looking for a middle school Nordic ski coach to work with skiers in grades 6-8. The middle school program will begin in mid-December and will continue through the end of February. This program will be a SkiWerx program, and will compete in SkiWerx races, along with some possible races with other middle schools in the area.

The District 112 high school StormHawks Nordic program is creating the middle school Nordic program, to provide dedicated coaching for our middle school athletes. There will be more flexibility in scheduling for middle school skiers and for the coach.

This position will be included within the Community Education program of District 112 and the coach will report to Scott Barta of Community Ed. This coach will also maintain a working relationship with the Head Nordic Coach for the High School Team.

The Minnesota Youth Ski League will support this position and the team with program and coach training on the Skiwerx Curriculum.

A budget will be created for this position and the middle school skiers will be able to use the varsity wax room at Chaska High School, as needed, when the varsity team is not preparing skis for varsity races. Middle School skiers will have a groomed trail at one of the middle schools.

This will be a very exciting position for a coach with top level technical teaching and skiing skills, along with a clear understanding of developing a training program that is appropriate for middle school athletes.
