  1. You need a focus because otherwise you’d wander aimlessly if left on your own.
  2. You have one of the largest waxboxes on the block and want more.
  3. Parents who want to know “Why?’ are an exercise in patience and kindness-for you.
  4. Freshmen continue to amaze you in their ability to ignore, overlook, block out, and yet still be the hope of the future of your team.
  5. Seniors, who were once freshman, show maturity, leadership, and under your guidance actually ski better than before; and you can hold a conversation with them.
  6. The tendonitis in your elbow from waxing and brushing untold skis will remind you daily of how fun it is to “hit the wax”.
  7. You’d still be stuck in “The Music of Your Era” without the latest downloads from skiing teenagers.
  8. When your ipod/software/hardware/VCR timer/Tivo confuse and frustrate, you have an eager and willing pool of technical wizards available to consult with.
  9. You have a built-in excuse when you finally find time to compete and find yourself in “Coaching Shape”.
  10. You finally realize that you have a skill set that will not increase your bank account, provide for stock options, or delay the aging process, but when all is said and done, you’re OK with that and realize that memories are more precious than gold.
