Today’s race field was packed with skiers ages 19 and under and ages 50 and above. At about 10am, 25 skiers hit the trails with the Olympian biathlete, Wynn Roberts, charged up the first hill. About 21 minutes later, Wynn Roberts cruised through the finish line with a big smile. Wynn noted modestly that the course condition was much much faster than 9 years ago when he raced the 1st Rainbow Rendezvous race as a young teen. Welcome back, Wynn – you set a new course record today!!!
The Detroit Lakes area rising star and the youngest female racer of the day, Berit Ramstad-Skoyles (15 years old), was the female champion in the freestyle race. Tyler Johnson and Kathy Ostgarden claimed the male and female classic race titles.
