Bemidji Canoe Derby - September 8th

September 8, 10:30-11:30 am, Home Place Ski Shop (524 Paul Bunyan Drive SE, Bemidji) for registration where you will receive directions to the 12 pm race/event start (mostly river race, not rocky). The Pro boat event will be approximately 2 hours and the Stock boat approximately 1 hour. There will also be recreational and youth events which will be shorter in distance.

Awards will be held at the Keg and Cork located in downtown Bemidji at approximately 3 pm. Event categories will be Pro boat, Unlimited (Mn 4’s, Eights, Dragon boats, etc.), Stock boats, Kayaks (racing and touring), Solo (stock and pro), Surf skis and Paddle boards. You bring it and we will find a category for it. There will be an aluminium category and wooden canoes will receive special recognition in all race events.
The theme for the event is a celebration of silent water sports. In addition an emphasis on welcoming new people to silent water sports and especially encouraging youth involvement.
Think of your average 10 km, foot race, there are some serious racers but most of the runners and walkers are there to participate and show their respect for healthy lifestyles.
PFD’s will be required.
