Wisconsin Nordic Ski League Votes to Move to Great Lakes Division

WNSL Coaches,

Thank you much for your participation and patience for results in the poll the WNSL took on the Wisconsin teams and clubs preference on division teams for Junior Cup racing. We wanted to give everyone a fair chance at voicing their preference, and wanted to confirm results prior to announcing to the WNSL and Central Division Coordinator for the US Ski and Snowboard Association, CXC.

Final Poll Results:

  • Switch to Great Lakes Division: 21 votes
  • Stay with Midwest Division: 8 votes

Based on the poll results, the majority of the WNSL coaches have decided that switching to the GLD is what will be recommended to CXC to add to the sport committee agenda for CXC congress for the 2019-20 season and future seasons. Many details to be worked out, so stay tuned for further announcements and plans on this topic.

Again, thank you for your thoughtful participation and input. Not a decision to be taken lightly, as this affects skiers, coaches and families in both divisions. All due respects to the Midwest Division for hosting and collaborating with Wisconsin skiers and coaches for many years. Hopefully this decision will provide some opportunities, direction and inspiration for Wisconsin skiers as well as strengthen the GLD division.

The WNSL skiers, teams and coaches look forward to working with the Great Lakes Division, and want to sincerely thank the Midwest Division for all the support and opportunities they have provided.

Sincerely,

The WNSL Officers

Ted Theyerl - President
Mary Eloranta – Vice President
Anna Demers - Secretary
Jim Wood - Treasurer
