Vasaloppet First Chance Race & Expo Jan. 5

Course conditions currently are excellent for the Vasaloppet USA’s First Chance Race & Expo January 5 in Mora. The race, starting at 11am, will feature a minimum of a 15km and 5km distances on a 5km loop of manufactured snow at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center. A classic track is also set for classic skiers.

Trail teams are continuing to work on the course and the recent snowfalls, combined with continued snowmaking, could allow the course lengths to be expanded.

The Expo will feature Gear West, Pioneer Midwest, Finn Sisu Fast Wax, and United State Pole Company. The event is a fundraising event for snowmaking equipment.

After the race skiers can purchase barbecued brats and chili prepared by Vasaloppet volunteers and adult beverage served by the Crystal Bar & Grill in Mora.

Register online at vasaloppet.us or on Saturday morning at the Nordic Center, 400N. 9 th St., Mora, 55051.

Snowmaking allows the signature Vasaloppet USA races on Feb. 9-10 to feature race distances from over 50km to 13 km on an 18km loop.
