Vasaloppet Swedish Mile Recap

Thirty-six runners completed the five-and-10-kilometer races in the Third Annual Swedish Mile Trail Run held at the Vasaloppet Nordic Ski Center north of Mora on Sunday. The event is called the Swedish Mile because in Sweden a mile is 10 kilometers.

From all reports, the runners who ran and walked the trails loved the winding, wooded and hilly course. The event is held as a fundraiser for snowmaking for the Nordic Ski Center trails for the winter.

Finishing first in the 10K race for the men was Phil Carlson in a time of 46:47.2 minutes and for the women Amy Oberbroeckling in 47:13.3 minutes. In the 5K Ryan Fahrmann finished first for the men in a time of 27:56.9 and Laura Hollingsworth finished first for among women in a time of 35:50.2 minutes.
