Wednesday Night Elm Creek Race Series Canceled For 2020-21 Season

It is after a lot of deliberation with multiple parties involved, and with much regret, that the Wednesday Night Elm Creek Race Series has decided not to run for the 2020-2021 season. Simply put, the logistics make it untenable. Specifically:

  1. There is no chalet available for registration and to keep race directors and volunteers warm beforehand. This means…
  2. We would be outside competing for space with a lot of other folks: XC skiers, tubers, and downhill users. This is not safe for anyone: racers or otherwise.
  3. Since the State has decided to allow youth sports to carry on, we have no idea when, where, and how meets will run. There is high probability our series could encounter cross-over issues with not just high schoolers training, but actually racing.
  4. The State requires a Covid Preparedness plan for any competitive sports. Since there are too many inconsistent factors, we are put in a position where creating one is nearly impossible—and more importantly, to enforce/follow.

Though we love affording skiers the opportunity to race-train, this year the series is just not practical.
