The Blue Hills Trail Association, Inc. encourages you to attend its 31st annual fundraising banquet the evening of Saturday, November 2nd at Lehman’s Supper Club in Rice Lake. The evening provides a fun opportunity to renew acquaintances and share in anticipation of the upcoming winter cross country ski season. Whether you’ve attended past fundraisers, or are new to this event, you’ll enjoy this year’s gathering that includes a cash bar, a delicious buffet meal, two major raffles, plus many silent auction items donated by local and national businesses.

The Blue Hills Trail of northern Wisconsin's Rusk County was established in 1987 by a group of local x-country skiers. It began as an eleven-mile complex of loops nestled within a rolling deciduous forest cut by small streams and sprinkled with red and white pines, balsam, and hemlock. It has since been expanded to a 22-mile system that is considered one of the most scenic cross-country ski trails in the Midwest. The trail’s many loops and intersections allow skiers to make their outings as long and challenging or as short and easy as desired.

This year’s guest speaker is Birkie Founder and Legend Ernie St. Germaine. Ernie is one of the original founding skiers from the first 1973 American Birkebeiner, and the only one to have skied all 45 Birkies. He will discuss his early years of skiing the Birkie, and share some of life’s lessons along the way. To assist the chef, banquet reservations are mandatory. Seating is limited. Please mail reservations no later than Tuesday, October 29th; reservations are also available online. Visit the Blue Hills Trail website for banquet and reservation details: bluehillstrail.com.
