Notes

Most of the trails are on the golf course, thus pretty open and fairly flat. The course really winds back and forth.

Due to the forecasted warm temperatures the cross country ski trail at Phalen Golf course will be closed for the year. Thank you skiers.

Groomer worked wonders! They even redirected the trail around a new pond. Entire trail except for a few frozen puddles is in great shape for skate. Thin corduroy snow made for mostly great edging. Stay on the more recently-groomed side of the trail (which varies). Get out here and enjoy it.

Secondhand
Was able to use about 80% of the original deck. Put a classic trail in and for the most part it's in good shape besides where I had to do some reroutes and due to the groomer ruts it didn't turn out well. Skate deck overall groomed out nice with the exceptions of where I had to reroute it due to water. With the deep snow still at Phalen the reroutes have some deep groomer tracks but should groom out with the next groom. Get out and enjoy this bright sunny day!

Not groomed. Snow is deep but not firm enough at 4pm to hold up skate skis. There are some skier-made classic tracks.

I was able to ski 3 loops before the skate deck got too soft. Still decent coverage. There is still a classic track, but it's in mostly poor shape.

Secondhand
Set a new classic track that is probably 80% useable with some reroutes. The skate deck is still in decent shape with some thin and icy spots. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Skied from 1:00-2:15 just as the temps were rising above freezing. The coverage was mostly very good with one bad spot in the north corner along Arcade St. The trail comes too close to the road there and the salt from the plows has melted about 100 foot stretch to sidestep. The strong sun was a welcome feeling in my back compared to the cold nipping at my cheeks for much of the winter. The March skiing at Phalen is here for a bit as there was an almost complete coverage throughout. Glad to get out.

Some icy spots on hills and sagging classic track in some areas but overall a good time. Finished up by 10:30 to avoid more melting. Saw some bare spots on the skate deck.

Set a new classic alongside the old one. Plenty of deck width to work with. Trail is still in great shape with a few thin spots starting to creep in a few spots. Enjoy it while you can!

We got some more fresh snow and trail is in great shape! Set a new classic and skate deck. Sun feels great! Great for the short term warmth but long term with many days of sun predicted ahead these great trails won't last long. Get out and enjoy them before they disappear!
