Trail Reports

2021-2022 season
Reports 1 to 3 of 3    Month: Jan
Saturday, January 29, 2022
Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
There were some thin spots in the beginning and in the open field. The wooded section had good snow, but lots of leaves and twigs. Thin/bare spots were clearly visible and could easily be side stepped.

Afternoon
Observation
I walked down to the lake from the parking lot. It does not appear the classic tracks are set yet.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied at 10:00 AM, and I was the only skier (but there were a number of walkers, despite the signs indicating the trails were just for skiing). I skied all of trails both south and north of the Gramsie culvert (I had to remove my skis both here and at the Snail Lake Blvd culvert). I spent the first 10 minutes being grumpy about the walkers and concerned that my face might freeze, but then, I had a lovely ski. The trail is packed but not tracked; however, there are a number of places where folks have skied in a good track. I did spend a lot of time thinking how it would not be hard for Grass Lake to be a multi-purpose (walkers, skiers) environment. This is a trail that definitely could use more of us -- the skiers -- using it, so get out there!:).
