Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

Set both trails this morning. Existing classic trail was icy and uneven. Did a couple of passes to till it up and Set a new one along side. Half of the classic trail is in great shape and the other half is ok but shallow. Did some work to eliminate the existing ruts on the skate deck. Overall the skate deck is in good shape.

This morning trails were quite icy, but conditions for crust ski skating on the non-groomed areas was excellent. I did one lap of the "glacier" area closest to the zoo and found the shaded trail along trees was OK, but everywhere else I stayed on the non-groomed snow. More enjoyable was skiing off the golf course into Como Park itself, where I could ski almost anywhere on the crust. It was nice to be able to ski past the Conservatory, picnic areas, ponds, ballfields and along runners on the path and cars on Como Avenue. You have to look out for some shaded spots where the snow is soft and I had to take off skis to cross sidewalks and roads, but being able to make your own path without being bound by grooming was nice. Attached is a map of my route in Training Peaks.

Well, there are definite reroutes due to standing water. Lexington end is the worst. The rest is is pretty good. Both classic and skate were set as best as could be expected. Be mindful of reroutes as new trails are soft.

I would say 80% off the trails are viable. There are areas of patchy ice and exposed ground. Be mindful of all Southwest facing hills. The areas that are good, nice set and corduroy on skate deck. Classic track is fresh all the way around with some ice. Some areas were rerouted and connected to make some small loops. Stay safe!

Don't get out your running shoes yet...more skiable than I expected. Definitely a few sections of grass that are avoidable and a few long stretches of rutted ice that need careful navigation, but overall it's fairly skiable. The downhill near the alpine hill is pretty icy with a good size grass section so take care going down. Otherwise, given the weather, it's not bad at all.

Icy and hard. Deep ruts and frozen mud in some places, especially by trees. Thankfully there is still not a lot of debris.

Good morning from Como! Great ski conditions and the trail has held up well despite the warm up. A couple areas to mindful due to ice. Skate deck is semi firm and the classic is holding up. Enjoy!

Dreamy conditions today. Skate deck was fast, nicely packed track, great ground coverage. Just a couple bare spots but easily avoidable. Classic tracks looked excellent too.
