[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The freeze-thaw-freeze cycles have created a crusty/icy base. There is about 1 inch of fresh snow on top of this base. I don't think that it has been groomed very recently. The resulting track is slow and not that fun to freestyle ski. I also stepped into the classic track, which now is mostly skier-set, and did a little striding on a flat section. The classic track was better, but, when I was there, this track only existed on the flat oval near the golf clubhouse. I only skied about 1 km and then decided to head over to Quarry Hill Park to see if conditions were better there. While I was at Quarry, one of the coaches for the local Nordic ski team told me that grooming at Eastwood is done for the year.

Definitely starting to go in its entirety. Here's hoping we get a random blast of snow and some cold weather! You really have to pick your way through the trails at the moment.

I was the person to get out skiing after a fresh track was set by the groomer. The soft corduroy was delightful for skating. The soft feel of the track made it seem a little slow. My pace, however, was on par with the fastest I am capable of skiing, so I think that the slow feel is more perception than reality. Overall conditions are superb at Eastwood. It did not look like the groomer had set a fresh classic track. However the previously existing classic track looked like it was in very good condition.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All the trails are open, in the sense that they are covered with a fresh blanket of snow. Grooming has not taken place here though, so be prepared to push more. Despite the warmer temps, the snow is not slushy at all but definitely choose your wax carefully as it has a different bite than in previous weeks. Great snowfall yesterday! Maybe grooming tomorrow?

Beautiful day today with great trail conditions. A few thin spots in the classic tracks under trees mostly, but I was on my best skis and didn't worry about the bottoms.

Eastwood golf course was groomed and trails are in excellent shape. Skate deck surprisingly fast given frigid temps recently, plenty of loose snow to maintain control. Classic track looked top notch as well, a few spots of dirt or grass.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
I wanted to classic ski Eastwood today for a change of pace. When I got there, however, I found that all of the classic tracks that were visible from the parking lot had been partially or completely obliterated by blowing snow that had drifted into the tracks. The freestyle track likewise appeared to have a fair amount of fresh snow on the surface, which might make it a bit of a slog. I decided to make the 5 minute drive to Quarry Hill, which is much more protected from the wind.

Vehicle tracks remain, but today's healthy dusting of snow has covered them and put a fresh coat on everything. Wonderful skiing conditions. Skate decks and classic tracks have a good layer on them. Definitely could use a pass by groomer to tighten everything up to an A+ condition. I was the only one there for the hour I visited. Get out there and enjoy.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails have recently been groomed but unfortunately driven over, and by what appears to be a UTV or whatever vehicle was used to get around the golf course. The winds and bit of snow snow today make the case for another run through to spruce up the grooming on both skate and classic tracks. Rather icy in some spots due to temps but still delightful. Be careful leaving the parking lot and entering the trails as the wheel marks are iced over in some spots and there's one thin area with grass poking through. Walk in if you have top shelf skis.

Eastwood had been groomed yesterday, and is in excellent condition. Classic tracks look very good with just a few areas with grass showing.
