Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Classic skied 23 km early this afternoon. Although, it's very gusty today there is no drifting on the trail. The trail is groomed spring style: shallower firm tracks, a bit rutty at times, some snow crumbles here and there. Skate deck is firm. Overall, the snow has the spring-excellent glide to it. With the temperatures below 20 degrees kick was awesome with skin skis. Hardly any debris on the trail. Saw 9 deer scurrying about. A fun fast ski on a gusty day! Thank you groomers.

Ashland trails were groomed and tracked yesterday. Conditions depend on time-of-day and how the sun is hitting - from soft to icy to Baby-Bear just right. Good spring skiing conditions.

Birkie leg shake-out and wax test. Classic skied 10 km. Main trail loop is firming up nicely. Tracks are good. Skate deck is firming up. Wax for tomorrow should ski like butter on a hot biscuit. Really cool to see an international Birkie skier from Canada at the trail testing wax this afternoon. Thanks groomers!!

Birkie jitters. Do my legs work, how's the wax at this temp? Classic skied 5 km on the MMC trail, I believe everything's alright. Conditions are soft, firmer on the main skating loop. Classic side trails tracks give way under the skis. Need some time to firm up. Awesome to see the youth learning to ski! Great ski!

Classic skied 20 km tonight. Even though my wax was wrong and I was too lazy to rewax after a 12 hour shift, the trail was still fast with a firm skate deck and tracks. Conditions are great! Excellent ski! Thank you groomers!

Classic skied about 8 km today to wake up the legs after yesterday on the Birkie. Beautiful fresh groomed conditions, tracks and skate deck are firm soft, and forgiving. Can't wait for a headlamp ski tomorrow! Thanks groomers!

Firm, fast and fun today. Beautiful pine forest, right in the city. A handy place to ski an hour, then head downtown for refreshment.

Working a 12-hour nursing shift during covid can build some stress. Classic skiing tonight at the MMC trail was just what the doctor ordered. What an awesome way to destress. Skied 20 km... 69 minutes. Conditions were excellent. Tracks were firm as advertised, super fast glide and grippy kick. Skate deck was solid. This made for a fantastically fun after work ski! Had to dodge four deer running across the trail at times. Beautiful Andy!

Excellent classic skiing conditions tonight! The tracks were firm, glide was awesome and kick had grip. Skate deck was firm when I was on it. Kick, double pole, repeat, repeat. Headlamp skied 20 km, 70 minutes. It's a great ski.
