New Reports Report Requests

Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

Trail Reports

2022-2023 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 101    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Yesterday's grooming held the trails for a few more days of decent skiing. A little lumpy were frozen, in the shade. Slower where exposed, but smoother going. Some tracks on the trails - deer or dogs. But for April 23rd, it was terrific. A dozen other skiers thought so, too.

We skied two miles of the Abbey Road trail. Nice tracks on a firm base. 43 degrees. It doesn't get any better when you can ski on April 23rd in perfect conditions. Thanks to the groomers who made it all possible.

Good spring conditions on Abbey Road, Northern Lights, and The Buzz. Some usual spring debris in spots, sticks and leaves to avoid. Classic trails look to be done for the season. At 59 degrees when I left just after noon, the rest will go soon.

We skied Mt Ashwabay... wow is that every awesome! The piston bully was out while we were there and it was amazing! Perfectly formed solid tracks, solid pole plants, a skate deck that was firm, wide, and just the right amount of cord on top! If you haven't been here, it's worth the drive.

We got a few inches of snow yesterday but warmed quickly and trails were ungroomable. Last night Boo-boo Bearcat sled completed tracking all the classic only trails. This morning HiHo Silver 4 Runner groomed skate lanes and tracked, Abbey Road, Skid Road, Seagull to the Summit, Northern Lights, and the Buzz. Conditions are hard and fast in the mornings and softening throughout the day.
