Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Rock skis ]
I decided to see what two inches of new snow and overnight temperatures in the low 20s would do for the Brule trails. Skied classic and while not anywhere near "good" conditions, it was fun. No tracks. Enough new snow to cover what must have been bare ground judging by the grass poking through in places. Lots of water channels. The narrow ones were no problem, but when I tried to cross a couple of wider ones my skis got wet and I had to stop to scrape frozen slush from the bottoms. Beautiful day, good to get out, glad I went.

Firsthand: Freestyle

Three cars in the lot at 9:30 am. Icy in spots, firm elsewhere. Entry Trail and a few other spots rather choppy due to yesterday afternoon's ruts, frozen overnight; the rest of the system had smooth conditions. Starting to soften at noon. Several "portages" on White Pine and River trails. If you go, go early.

Great skiing at Afterhours on Saturday. Skating was excellent. Could have used my best skis probably one is careful in a few areas where the snow is a little thinner. The light snow Friday that was groomed up helped cover the dirty spots in some pine sections. Classic tracks set on some of the trails were very good too & fast and firm! Light snow again on Sunday morning as I submit this report should make it great skiing today in case the trails got a bit icy after warming up in the sun yesterday.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I groomed all the skate decks except for one section on Red Pine. The 1” of new snow freshen up the deck nicely. Track was also set on Sally’s, Easy Entry, Balsam, Spruce, Aspen and the Returns. At 2:00 the sun had made the snow too soft to skate but the trails should be fast and firm tomorrow morning. The chalet has been locked due to health concerns but come on out and enjoy some spring skiing at its best.

Skied 12K on Maple, White Pine, Nebagamon Creek, Oak, Spruce, and Aspen. Very firm, good conditions. As mentioned previously, just a couple bare spots to ski around on White Pine. Get out and enjoy!

Firsthand: Freestyle

Some of the most firm and fast skating this year. It didn’t take long for today’s grooming to set up. I skated all trails and most are in good to excellent condition. Expect a few bare spots and ice patches in addition to debris from the pines. No new classic tracks and it looked moderate to nonexistent further out. Get out and enjoy some mid March skiing at its best.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We scratched our skate lanes twice this morning after a crusty 1/2 in. of snow mix. The trail leveled and set up some nice looking comb. Conditions for skating should be good to very good. Tracks are in poor condition except for Sally's classic trail which still looks decent. We did not set any new track. There is some debris on the trails and only a few bare spots located on white pine trail. Enjoy.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I groomed all the skate decks tonight. On roughly half the trails I made two passes. The temp was 26 when I started and 20 when I finished. The skating should be fast before the temp climbs on Tuesday. Except some debris but there are only a few thin spots and ice patches. There is still a significant base on the trails after the recent warm temps.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The trails have melted and glazed over from the warm temps this last weekend. I was out setting track on Sally's classic trail this morning and was able to get some mixed results as for track quality. Some areas were soft enough to set to full depth where other areas the track was very shallow. There was some leaf litter in the hardwoods and heavy needles in Pine/Spruce stands. We are planning to scratch the skate deck tonight and attempt tracking some of the core trails tomorrow.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We groomed and tracked the main trails this morning. It is too warm this afternoon to set Sally's classic trail. Track and skate deck look really good after 2-3 inches of new snow from yesterday. Conditions are excellent and may hold through the weekend. Get out today if you can. Warm sunny conditions will melt down conditions quickly.
