Trail Reports

2020-2021 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 24    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Monday, March 1, 2021
Morning
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skating is quite firm and there are shallow ruts from yesterday's skaters, but certainly skiable. The 1/4" dusting we got yesterday/last night covered most debris in the classic tracks. They are hard and shallow but the best I've ever seen for March 1 at Tower Ridge.

Firsthand: Classic

The groomer made a couple of passes on a few K of trails near the chalet. The rest were untouched, but the skating deck is in good condition from grooming yesterday. We got a very light dusting of snow overnight. The classic tracks have not been re-set since last week, however they are in mostly good condition, deep, and with not much leaves/debris in them.

Although in the low 30s, skiing was excellent earlier today. The trails had been groomed and packed, so the skating deck was perfect. The classic tracks had not been reset but were in excellent shape.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Packed and tracked well here, lots of skiers out today. Classic tracks well set. Snow was squeaky and dry, but no complaints because at least you can move on this stuff versus when it was bitter cold. Had a fun ski, and crossing my fingers for enough snow that they freshen up the trails with a groom.

Good base and tracked well. Classic tracks were set pretty solidly. Snow was a little squeaky because it's dry, but I felt like I was gliding fast out there. Seriously was the easiest ski I've had in a few weeks. Happy for warmer temps to make the trails feel fast.

The classic skiing conditions at Tower today are as good as they get. Firm, fast tracks with good kick. Leaves only here and there. There has been some brushing done on the "Donut" trail and 200m of the track is filled with sticks and leaves. Skating deck has been getting some heavy use but is not hard.

The groomer was just finishing up at 3:30 pm. All the trails have been groomed for skating. The skating deck is nice, firm corduroy but a few degrees of warmth sure would help speed up the snow. The classic tracks on almost all the trails were reset.

Trails were packed and tracked; groomed early in the week for sure, but it didn't appear to be groomed since. Fresh snow was falling as it was anyway, and it's been bitterly cold, but despite that, quite a few skiers out! Snow was squeaky and slow, and with the fresh snow even a little slower, but you definitely keep warm trying to move out there. Overall decent skiing for the weather we have.

The groomer was out this morning. By 11:00 he had groomed most of the trails for skating. The skating deck is firm and controllable and actually his some speed considering the snow temperature of -5F. No new classic tracks had been set. The existing tracks have 1/2" of new, very dry snow in them, covering the leaves but not giving much glide.

Fresh corduroy on all the trails this morning. The classic tracks were not touched. The dusting of snow we got overnight mostly covered the oak leaves and the tracks are firm.
