"Skiers Only" signs will be coming down tomorrow according to park staff. From what I saw yesterday, some of the flat areas were probably still skiable freestyle. The Silver flats across the river from the Purple trail looked decent as did the training loop.The base was down to about three inches at best. I was mostly off trail scouting buckthorn and treatment issues. If you have skied Willow, you have seen plans put into action and results.

Groomers without your work on Thursday skiing would not have been possible. Skied Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, trails included orange associated with red, brown, purple, silver, blue, green campground and yellow. The deck was icy Friday, Saturday icy early and softened later. Most of the deck for all trails were in good shape, with exception to the following: the 20+ people encountered walking on the blue, the steep hill on silver from the river to nelson farm has areas were the full deck is ice and a bare spot near the top by nelson farm. Many thanks to all of the groomers for your countless volunteer hours, you provided an incredible year of skiing!

Variable conditions, icy in areas, hard but skiable in others, then some softer groomed sections that were OK. A fair amount of debris and generally no tracks. Areas under the pines are uniformly icy and full of debris. Skied green and purple flatter sections by the river then crossed the south/west bridge from purple to silver (Nelson Farm trail) over to the base of the big climb. Stared at the ice flows on the climb and decided I would live to ski another day, turned around and went back to the car.

I skated some laps on the green trail today, it was actually pretty good. Hard underneath but enough loose snow to get an edge. I used my stiffest skis and they worked well.

The skate deck was groomed on all the trails today except the pink, orange and gray hill. Succeeded in breaking up the surface crust and removed the frozen skate ski tracks. Trails are in fair to good condition. The trails are hard underneath but there is now some surface softness to get an edge. Some patches of ice in some of the high sun areas or under the pines. The red, green, silver and purple trails are in the best condition. Use caution when skiing the blue trail to the falls: At the bottom of the first blue hill off the campground the trail is all ice for 200 yards. Probably best to walk down the hill. Rest of the blue trail is okay. The trail from the bottom of the gray hill to falls and over the bridge is hard. Groomed all the youth ski league loops. B skis recommended due to varying conditions. Classic skiing would be very marginal, crusty and icy tracks.

Rock hard. Ice. Frozen ice puddles. Leaves. Footprints. Faded track. Ruts. Bare spots. Its ugly. I was on the trails with the Gator to go finish up yesterday's brush cutting work. I saw parts of the Orange, Yellow, and the Green. The Gator left tracks some places but not all. It is up for discussion among the groomers this afternoon to try scratching up the skate deck. No promises.

12:45 p.m., still in pristine condition despite full sun and temperatures up to 34 degrees. Classic skinskied about 15K loop and found it fast but not the least bit icy--every bit as good as my ski two days ago just before the track was set. I expect excellent conditions at least the first part of this afternoon and probably even tomorrow morning, especially for skating. Kudos to our great volunteer groomers!

I skied classic on racing skins over fresh grooming which had seen little use. Track varied with the density of the snow pack. It was fast in or out of track. The downhill out of the 300 camp was a load on the deck. Enough leaves had been present that I didn't want to risk the blind approach in the big hill track. I cleaned the hill without any snowplow moves. Those start carving a luge run. It was a rocket ride. Enough of that! It was the easy stuff afterwards. On the classic side, leave the fast skis home.

All trails are groomed and tracked. I finished up with the Silver Trail around 11:30am today and touched up the skate deck in the 300 campground. Orange, pink, red, brown, purple, blue, and yellow trails were groomed yesterday. Trails are in great condition.

Willow was rolled but no track has been set. The earliest possible track setting by a volunteer groomer looks to be after work hours Wednesday.
