Plenty of new snow at Winter Park, yet surprisingly I had the whole trail system to myself. The gates are closed so one needs to park at the gate and ski in (the last stretch of road is not plowed and snow is quite deep, beware if driving a low clearance car). It rained or sleeted at times during the storm, so there is a tricky crusty ice layer under the fresh snow that my skis were breaking at times. In fact, it gets tricky going downhill. Used waxless skin skis with fluoro spray on the skins (which I highly recommend as it would otherwise be the perfect moisture and temperature to ice under the skis). Unfortunate that they decided to close for the season two weeks ago, but a chance for some nice backcountry skiing, which I rarely get a chance to enjoy (winters are too short and I can't do all the skiing I'd like). Nice late season treat.

MWP is closed for the season but still skiable if you park at the gate and walk in. Most trails are still skiable if you don't mind stepping around rare bare spots and the occasional pine cones and icy patches. For me it was worth the trip.

Fast Spring conditions, good coverage, icy spots here and there: trails groomed in last day or so were were probably good for A skis! End of season party Sunday.

Skied Lake Marie was just groomed. Started just before 10 am, excellent conditions til about noon, when mushy snow formed in sun with typical fast in the shade and sudden slow in sunny areas descent. After 1 more sunups from twigs and such appeared. No open water, no real ice, just hard pack in shade. Overall excellent to good conditions. Skied on waxless due to variable conditions. Great job grooming and many thanks!

Came here directly from Winman trails which were unskiable at 10 am due to icy base. The PB groomed trails had no ice and were clean of debris with nice glide until the snow softened in the sunny areas. Well worth the trip.

Fantastic late season skiing at MWP today, vast majority of the trails were pisten bully groomed with a firm and fast skate deck and classic tracks. Some areas under the pines had a lot of needles and the snow was slow/dirty but 90% was in fantastic shape. Skated, and would recommend scales or skins for striders as the snow was very variable with some crusty/icy sections, slush and pine debris. I would imagine it would be difficult to find a klister that would work everywhere and also avoid picking up the pine needles.

Plenty good with lots of vitamin D to compliment an easy ski. Mostly inner loops groomed, but that was PB perfect. Love it when aged, transitioned snow gets tilled, flattened, and those classic impressions pressed in. Spring skiing is best, even with a little sun sucky here and there contrasting with shadows accelerants giving the surge and slow feel to the ski. Approaching a personal 100 days of skiing in the Northwoods. Quite a season.

The inner PistenBully groomed trails were fast and fun. Tracks seemed very good also. The longer trails that weren't regroomed were almost as nice due to the 1/2 inch of new snow. I encountered substantial debris on ungroomed trails wherever there were pine trees. Best to stay on newly groomed trails.

Made an afternoon visit in an attempt to squeeze out a causal 75-90 minute session. Found the trails in the wooded sections in good shape-no rutting except for animal tracks, level and firm trail base. A light layer of fresh snow covered much of the wooded trails which continue to hold a deep base. Pine needles and small branches can litter the trail in spots. It appears the grooming implements should be able to till a layer of looser snow. Enjoy being outdoors.

I was impressed to find all of the grooming done overnight. All of the long trails and many others were great. Sunshine and good glide until temps rose above freezing.
