Some sections were surprisingly good, but the good sections didn't last long before being interupted by ice or grass. Skied Core Loop, Portage, Balsam, Linden, Peepsock, and Birch. Birch and Portage are the ones in the best shape, with minimal grass showing. There were a couple hills on the other trails that were in pretty rough shape, and I decided to walk down them. Definitely not ideal ski conditions, but still better than when I tried to ski in October, and I still had fun! If you have rock skis, and you're just looking to squeeze in another ski before the snow melts, it's still worth going if you go soon (today's warm amd sunny weather is not going to help)! If you don't have rock skis, or if you are looking to beat some PRs without risking injury, you'd be better off getting out your bike or running shoes and sticking to pavement.

Nice base left on the Tech trails. As the lower half of the trails are no longer groomed, I thought the upper trails would not be so great, but I was pessimistic. Full coverage still everywhere with classic tracks set. I could not be here in the morning otherwise it would have been a great day. It was a sluggish day in mid afternoon sunshine.

Tech trails are in really good shape after the melt. Grooming in process, and the skate deck is flat, fast, but with good edging. Skiing lives on in the Keweenaw!

For those brave souls venturing out this morning the Lower Trails and Nara were groomed first and finished at 5:30am. The Bombardier then headed directly into the Upper Trails. The Upper Trails as well as Tolkien are in the process of being groomed this morning.

The crew has been hard at it trying to keep up with the snowfall and repairing equipment. The upper trails are being panked and groomed to the best of our abilities. The rest of the trail system is snowed in. The Bombardier is in the shop where we are assessing an issue with the fuel system. We are down to one machine to pack and groom and it is being worked continuously. The trails are too soft to pull the Ginzu and set track. Please bear with us and know we are doing our best to give you something to ski. Thank you for your patience.
