Soaring Eagle will not be groomed again this season. Warming house is locked and porta potty removed. The road leading to the trail is muddy with parts under water. Spring has arrived. See you next season.

Excellent conditions continue at Soaring Eagle, as the groomers have been working hard to keep up with all the snow! We had another 4" Wednesday, and skate lanes were done Thursday. The classic tracks were left with fluffy snow, but we broke trail and several others followed in the afternoon, so conditions should be fine throughout today. Watch for a big hole on the first part of Lilly's loop, which we determined was animals digging down for a deer carcass. How did that get there? Open house Sunday from 1-3:30, depending on weather.

Excellent conditions at Soaring Eagle today from 12 to 3 p.m. I skated, while my partner did classic. Both of us agreed that it was our best ski of the season today! Although the skate was a little slow when I first started, when I was the first skater on the course after a fresh grooming, it got faster as it was packed down over the afternoon. I love that course and the people hosting the open house this afternoon were about as friendly as can be found! A big thanks to all the volunteer who make Soaring Eagle possible! They saved our weekend after a disappointing day at Itasca yesterday!

Open house at Soaring Eagle, parking lot full, but we got a spot. Classic tracks were good, but corners were worn. Good glide and only two other people on trail. Most people left when we started at 2:30. Thanks to volunteers who put on open house, we were made welcome.

Grooming update: Trail groomer reports that he groomed all trails Saturday evening, including the classic track, and packed down the loose snow on the skate lane. He groomed all 10k, classic track should be excellent and skating a bit easier.

Soaring Eagle has over 2 ft of snow and a deep base on all 11km of trails. Trails were groomed for skate/classic on Wednesday after several more inches of snow. Then it snowed another inch on top of that! The classic tracks are about perfect, so it should be a fine weekend for skiers. Skate lane has 1" snow, and it's the fine-grained, cold, edgy type, so yesterday with temps in the teens, the snow was colder and very slow -- quite the workout. It should get better as it's skied down. Open house again Sunday with skis available from 1 - 3:30.

Excellent conditions throughout the 11K of skate/classic trails. We had 8" new snow before the cold snap and grooming was done yesterday and today. We have the best conditions in years, so get out here and enjoy! Open house tomorrow from 1-3:30 PM, skis and boots available for all. MN ski pass required.
