Trail Detail
Notes
A beautiful, challenging system of loops located about 17 miles east of Hayward. Trails are for intermediate to advanced skill levels and offer a great "in the woods" skiing experience.Trail Reports

I was first skier on the groomed trails this afternoon. I did the 7.5km loop twice. The tracks and skate deck were very soft and slow. When classic skiing. my poles frequently sunk to the core of the earth.

Skied the 7.5km loop today. There is still a base on the entire trail, however, there are thin spots on south facing hills. Especially under the pine trees, there is a lot of debris on the trail, so expect some advanced debris dodging! The hardwood stretches were much nicer, though still a fair amount of debris. Hasn't been groomed recently, so don't expect tracks or corduroy! Wax: skins Weather: overcast, upper 30s, with a dusting of new warm snow on top of a firm base.

Mukwonago received about 2 inches of snow over the past few days. The snow put on a glittery show today as I groomed. I set tracks, but underneath the pine trees the tracks are quite shallow because not much snow reached the trail under the canopy. There are some twigs and pine cones on the trail in these areas. When the canopy opens up in the maple stands, the tracks are deeper.

Classical tracks visible and some snow to permit downhill snow plows, but generally icy conditions with a sprinkling of pinecones on trails to affirm the forest setting. Nontheless fun to try a couple 2K and 4K loops on a cold, sunny day.

Skated the 13K trail, wow was it nice. Skate deck is flat and soft enough to get nice skate push. There is about a 1/2 inch of new snow on top. The classic track were well set and looked good the whole loop. Super fun to ski with all the up and downs. I had read somewhere that all the hills have a nice run out and that is fact.
