Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Mukwonago has not received any new snow since last week. I went out and did 2 passes on all the loops to freshen them up since there was a lot of use during Birkie weekend. The skate deck looks really great. It was hard to get decent classic tracks set with the hard crunchy snow. The classic tracks are decent in places and shallow in other places. All around, the skate deck is in excellent shape and the classic tracks are in good to fair condition.

Hard deck and nice views for post-Korte ski. Classic tracks looked a bit shallow in spots. Nice trail with little traffic this morning as most folks are on the Birkie trail. Did the 4.4 km loop. Back end of this looked recently groomed. Rest of trail was probably done before last Thursday. Still in great shape.

Trails were well-groomed and in excellent condition. The Forest Service folks had a campfire and hot chocolate, so I expected a lot of skiers, but the cold weather maybe kept some away.

Mukwonago received 2-3" of fresh snow yesterday. The new snow made for ideal grooming conditions today! The trail is in very nice shape going in to the big week of skiing ahead. Enjoy a few laps and stay limbered up for the big race:) Reminder that tomorrow Wednesday Feb. 19th we are having a skiing social out at the Mukwonago trail. Trail fees are waived for the day, and there will be a fire and hot chocolate for folks to enjoy! Come on out and enjoy you're National Forest!

I skied the 7 km loop and the trails were great! The trails were freshly groomed with a new classic track set most the way. There was not a new classic track on the return from the 4 km loop. It looked like they were able to groom the 13 km loop as well.

Mukwonago received just a couple inches of new snow this week. The new snow was groomed in today, and conditions are excellent! The groomer had an electrical issue towards the end of grooming, and tracks were not reset on the return loop from the 4 Km intersection of the return loop back to the parking lot. Thanks to volunteer Bruce for grooming today! On Wednesday, February 19th from 9 AM to 3 PM, the Forest Service will be hosting a ski social at Mukwonago. Come check out the trails, stay warm by the fire, and enjoy some hot chocolate! Hope to see you there!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Mukwonago was groomed today. Special thanks to volunteer Bruce for helping out with the grooming today. The trail was a solid iceberg when we started. which can make grooming difficult. The skate lane was scratched up and smoothed out on all loops. The classic tracks were reset, and looked pretty good. The tracks on the 2 Km and 4 Km loop are in great shape, and the tracks on the 7 Km loop are shallow in places. We were not able to reset the classic tracks on the 13 Km loop, so those will still be icy.

We skied the long (Bulldog Springs) loop at Mukwanago today. Overall, the conditions were very good. The classic tracks were mostly firm even though we skied as the groomer was finishing up. The tracks were a little soft in some areas and pole plants on the outside edge of the trail penetrated a few inches; however, none went all the way through the snow pack. The skate deck was mostly firm and level. Strips of ungroomed snow in the center of wide sections of the trail were present but these did not badly interfere with skating. We enjoyed the rolling terrain and beauty of this trail.

Mukwonago was fully groomed on this beautiful day. There was about an inch of new snow, that we groomed in and set new tracks. Conditions are amazing right now. Special thanks to Samantha for volunteering and helping us get the trail groomed today.

Chris went out this morning before 6 AM to groom in the new 2-3 inches of snow at Mukwonago. All loops were groomed before it got to warm, and the trail looks excellent. Hope you can get out there this weekend!
