New Reports Report Requests

Notes

Small park near the end of the Gateway Trail. There is beautiful scenery with trails winding through pine forest, and near small lakes and picturesque farms. The course is quiet, sheltered, and has a lot of fun roling hills. Most of the terrain is intermediate in difficulty.

Trail Reports

2021-2022 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 37    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Thursday, March 10, 2022
Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Poor conditions. Ground nearly totally covered but thin and icy. Personally, I won't return until either we get more snow and it's groomed again or it warms up to slush on top.

Fair to good for skating. Mix of new snow and ice. 99% good control. Definitely worthwhile! No classic tracks.

Skied before today's grooming report was filed. Trails have been groomed for skate but are highly variable. Many wet spots, a couple nearly the width of the trail. Some ice showing through. No classic tracks set. I thought I would work on my corduroy striding but gave up after a short loop. I appreciate the grooming effort at this time of year!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skate deck was packed. No classic tracks were set. There are quite a few areas with standing water/ice/slush. There are a couple trees down as well that staff is estimating will be off the trails by tomorrow. There are also some larger branches as well. The multi-use trails were packed and there is a large puddle on the North side of the prairie by 120th Street.

The skate deck was groomed. The classic tracks were not regroomed and are icy. Trails are in fair to good condition with some large icy patches and some debris.

Skated in the morning. Did out and back on section 10/11 under trees I expected, and found debris from wind. still nice track here to double-pole. Did entire yellow loop 98% great. I thought section 6 - 7 would have been worse. I would think the base is consistently deep enough to hold up to spring temps. Purple [meadow] loop is usually the same as yellow.

Excellent conditions at Pine Point today. I arrived early afternoon and skied every segment of the trail. Tracks in excellent shape with little to no debris and no ice. Skate deck looked excellent as well.

Grooming

Ski trails were groomed for skate skiing. The old tracks have good coverage and were left in place. Expect debris due to high winds. The multi-use trails were also groomed.

The best classic skiing in a long time. Tracks were set yesterday and are well formed even in thin wooded areas. Very little debris. No ice and no crust so climbs have good grip and descents have excellent control. Skied all loops. It was hard to quit because conditions are so good. A winter wonderland. Come out and see grooming as an art form with shallow snow!
