Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
City groomed this afternoon so it was as good as it is going to be this time of year with no new snow. Some areas had nice snow base, but there were several icy areas and lots of the oak leaves, pine needles and sticks. Just added to the challenge of balance, glide, avoid. Saw 4 of the 30 or so deer that live in the area. Girl Scout troop enjoyed their outing with hot chocolate in the warming house.

City of Cohasset groomed packed and tracked 3" new snow on both MN Power and Portage Park trails. Ski before high winds blow pine needles and oak leaves in the tracks!

Excellent skiing. Trails are freshly groomed. Nice temps and little wind make for an enjoyable outing. Lots of deer in the area. You can ski close by them if you don't make noise and keep a steady pace. I passed within 15 yards of several and saw over a dozen--some in beds.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Conditions are good but the trail is in desperate need of grooming. 2-3 inches of new snow in the skate track, would make skate-skiing very difficult. I called the city Parks and Rec, they said they planb to be grooming this trail Friday.

Groomer did both MN Power and Portage Park this morning, but it has been snowing all morning with over 2 inches already. Go ski in the fun powder before it gets too deep!
