Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The ski trails were groomed after 1/2 inch of fluffy snow. The skate deck is in fair to good condition with sticks and dust on the trails with the strong 25 to 40 mph gusts of wind. Track was set on all the trails and are in good to fair condition. The fat bike trail is in good condition. Most of the drifts of snow were removed and was firm. Some icy spots by Bear lake and under the pines on the northwest corner. The trail was well ridden in later in the afternoon. Grooming plans: The skate deck will get groomed in the morning.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The cross country skate deck has been groomed. They will be fast with 3/4 inch ball bearing snow on top. Recommended B skis with the thing spots from yesterday's warm weather. Track has not been reset due to low snow conditions, waiting for Fridays snow. The fat bike trail is firm with some grit on top. Icy spots are along bear lake, hilltop and northwest passage under the pines. Will have to ride slower and cautious with the icy spots.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied in the afternoon on ungroomed trails. The groomers were waiting for the 1-2 inches of wet new snow to refreeze before grooming. Some spots under the pines are still almost bare, but this snow helps a lot.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The skate deck has been groomed this morning. The lighted loops are in good condition. The red and blue loops are in fair/good condition. A few dirty/thin spots B skis just to be safe. Also the downhill ski slope is currently groomed for some hill climbs.

Skied three laps of 7.9 mile blue trail. Hard pack with just enough loose snow for control. Most of the trail is in hardwoods which was well covered with an occasional dirty spot. Trail in limited pines areas were thinner and more dirty, but still very skiable. Classic tracks looked OK, with a few oak leaves here and there. Watch the first Gold Rush big downhill and later Last Thrill downhill, they are hard pack and fast! Added bonus is the new chalet, which has a heated room and big restrooms that are always open. When open, the main room has a great fireplace, tables and comfortable coach and chairs.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Fast conditions at Standing Rocks. There's full coverage, though thin under a couple hemlock groves. Skating the hills was a flyer, this after the Tuesday midday warm spell. A bit of slickness on a couple south-exposed steeps, but otherwise the trails held up terrific.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I was pleasantly surprised at the trail coverage and grooming, considering the lack of snowfall. Passed the groomer/sled several times during my ski. Skate deck is in good shape, soft from the recent light snow. Occasional debris kicked up, thin sports and limbs suggest B skis are the best way to go. Tracks seemed to be solid although thin in some places. I did the red loop and one of the blue inter loops. The blue loop is most protected from the winds.
