Great skiing on the Uller Trail today from Weber Lake to Hoyt Rd. The base was crusty, but a few inches of new snow on top were freshly groomed in. Classic tracks were set throughout, and thoughtfully lifted in the more challenging areas. The snow in the woods is deep, and the occasional pole plant sinks in a few more inches than desired. The new loops near Weber Lake, and the cabin are nice additions. One of the steepest climbs has been modified with a more skiable grade. This is truly an amazing trail that takes you back to the roots of skiing. The terrain and snow quantity are unmatched in Wisconsin. If you have not skied this trail, and are looking for a ski experience the "way it used to was," this is the place for you.

[ Trails Open: Partial ]
Via Iron County Forestry and Parks: The Uller Trail loops at Weber Lake have all been rolled and the yellow and orange loops are tracked. Please use caution as there are still some wet areas out there. The blue loop is open as well but not tracked due to the machinery tracks, but the new cabin shell is up! All we need now is some new snow and we can track blue as well. We will try and tackle the mainstem to Hoyt next week and shore up those water holes.

Uller was not groomed since the last snow fall (>12"), but backcountry conditions were great! We skied in on the Krankkala Spur, and there were a few wet areas that were easily avoided. Upon arriving at the main trail 4k later, we found skier tracks from perhaps the day before, so it looks like nearly the whole system is at least skier tracked. The snow is deep, and the hills are big in this part of Wisconsin. If you have not skied this trail, it is an experience you won't soon forget.

As reported by the Iron County Forestry Dept: The Krankkala spur is probably not passable after this past weeks warm temps. Tracks have also not been set since the warm up. Grooming and tracks may be set tomorrow or else Thursday.

Skied from Weber lake/whitecap ski resort to Hoyt Rd. New signs and trail well marked the entire way. The trail had been packed down but not groomed well. Beautiful scenery. One if my favorite ski trails in the Midwest. The trail is steep and challenging in places. If fast snow and poor grooming I suggest taking off skis for steep sections. Several rustic shelters along way to stop at. Bring food and water. It was a 4 hr ski.
