Uller was groomed earlier this week, and has a nice track set throughout. The track on the West end near Whitecap is a bit shallow and squirrelly. The Main Uller from the Whitecap loops to Hoyt road, including the Krankala Spur, is in very good condition with deep tracks and firm snow. The new addition between Hoyt road and Pence is now track set, but not leveled, making for a fun ski reminiscent of kayaking on a wavy day. What an amazing trail! Thanks to the local support for this trail, and volunteer grooming.

Uller Trail has the best conditions all season right now. The trail has been extended this year, and it is now possible to ski from White Cap to Montreal, WI. All sections are groomed with track set, but skiing the Uller is still and adventure worth having. It's cold, so ski wisely while enjoying winter.

Freshly groomed from Hoyt Road to the first snowmobile trail crossing (assuming because this is where the snowmobiles had used the ski trail). After the snowmobile trail there were several inches of snow over the most recent grooming, but that skied in well. This trail is so enjoyable for folks who — like me — enjoy peaceful, quiet, old-fashioned classic trails. There were several areas where descents on the return trip were challenged by the deep footprints of folks who had walked down the hills. But, patient careful skiing made these passable.

I tried out the Krankkala Spur from Lagoon Road. It had been groomed/tracked at some point fairly recently but was pretty well drifted over in the field edge at the start. After about a quarter mile I entered the woods and came to a four-way intersection. Unfortunately, all options except the trail I came in on were flattened by snowmobile traffic, so I gave up. Looking forward to trying again another time.

Fun to get out on one of my favorite old-school classic-only trails for a short ski. I think it may be the first time it was tracked for the year, but conditions were pretty darn good. Some branches and sticks, and some places where the old school grooming equipment had slid sideways. But, it's always fun to get the wilderness adventure feeling that you get on the Uller.
