No Foolin .... still some base left at Elver from Madnorski and CXC snowmaking efforts this season but it’s down to about a 50 meter stretch. Ready to say it’s over here after nearly 4 months of skiable snow in Madison. Ski ya next season!

Very good skating on soft granular snow. Probably a little less than 1k now. The groomer was unable to fully cover the ice, the spot to watch is at the bottom of the hill which is getting thin at the top.

Observation
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
The groomer was just starting when I stopped by around 10:30. Yesterday there was ice and the some of the trail has shrunk away from the heavy rain. Looks like we'll have another day or two.

The fun hasn’t stopped at Elver — virus or otherwise. More than 50 skiers of all ages out enjoying the snowmaking loop in glorious sunshine this afternoon One guy came 60 miles from Milwaukee to get in on the action. Grooming should continue this week which is good considering Madison is on shut down.

Endless season continues in Madison with fresh grooming of the Elver glacier. A full K of man made snow remains and conditions were good. Should be skiable for several more days. Thanks again to CXC, MadNorSki and City Parks for making it happen.

Excellent and sunny skate ski conditions on fresh corduroy on Elver man-made snow loop. Skied with groomer Dick then took him out for breakfast. Wooded loops are skiable still but not groomed.

Grooming ended Wednesday which was a very good day especially in the morning. I was hoping Yuri would make one last pass wth the cold overnight but skiing was still good, I was able to do the full 1k loop. A mix of soft and icy conditions depending on where the sun hit the trails. The hill was a little challenging. There were far worse conditions early January.

Afternoon

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All the trails are open but not all have been groomed. The man made area is in the best condition with nice deep tracks and a good skate deck. None of the hills besides the band made loop were groomed. The West was in good skating condition and amazingly they were able to set tracks which were a little icy and litter was scattered throughout. The downhills for the first and third hills were groomed and all the climbs were groomed. Crusty but pretty good skating.

The East was groomed yesterday and West today. All hills were groomed and in very good condition with the exception of the man made and the climb on the backside of the East. Skating is excellent and classical very good, some of the tracks are a little slick.

Less than half the trails are groomed. West side loops, first and third hills. On the East classical tracks end at the shelter, not even the man made hill was groomed. Great skating and fast tracks. Be aware of changing snow from powder to crusty with no warning and some icy spots under the snow.
